Plan Your Perfect Fall Decor with these Simple Tips
As Summer winds down and the crisp air arrives, I like to start planning how I will decorate my home for the Fall and Autumn season.
What type of decorator are you? Are you the type that likes to throw something together and hope it looks good or maybe you are the type that would like to elevate your seasonal decorating, but feel overwhelmed with all of the possibilities and don't know where to start.
I've got you! Decorating for Fall can be simple and enjoyable. Here are a few easy steps to help you plan and decorate your home for the cozy season ahead.
Start with a Vision
Before you dive into decorating, take a moment to think about how you want your home to feel. Do you want it to be cozy and warm, bright and cheerful, perhaps you prefer a minimalist look or maybe elegant and serene? Decide on a theme or mood that resonates with you. This will guide your choices and make decorating more focused and intentional.Choose a Color Palette
Once you have your vision, it’s time to choose a color palette. Fall is all about warm tones like burnt orange, deep reds, mustard yellows and earthy browns. You can also mix in some neutrals like cream or beige to balance things out. Having a color palette will help you stay consistent and make your decor look cohesive. Here are a few of my favorites.
Layer with Textures
Adding texture is key to creating a cozy Fall atmosphere. Think soft blankets, fluffy pillows and woven baskets. These textures will add warmth and make your home feel inviting.
Bringing the Outdoors In
Nature plays a big role in Fall decor. Consider bringing the outdoors in by using natural elements like pinecones, acorns, wheat and branches. Using Fall flowers like sunflowers and mums in your arrangements is another great way to add natural elements. These touches will help add the beauty of the season to your home.
Incorporate Fall Scents
The sense of smell is powerful in creating a cozy atmosphere. Fall is one of my most favorite times to light scented candles and with scents like pumpkin spice and cinnamon. You can also simmer a pot of cinnamon sticks, cloves and orange peels on the stove. These scents will instantly make your home smell like Fall.
Add Personal Touches
Don’t forget to add personal touches to your home to make it uniquely yours! Family photos, personalized decor, handmade decor, favorite scripture verses and Fall sayings. These items will bring warmth and personality to your space.

Take Your Time & Enjoy the Process
You don’t have to decorate your entire home at once. Start with one room or one area, like your living room or entryway and build from there. Decorating should be fun, not stressful, so take your time and enjoy the process.
